I hope some one can help me!!!! I bought a skid steer with a VH4D wisconsin motor. I have heard a lot of good things about Wisconsin motors. But this is the first one that I have ever owned. So my first question is where I would be able to get ahold of an service/parts manual for this motor? Secondly does any one have any good suggestions on where I can get parts for this. I hope that most of them are still able to be gotten. As I got a spare motor coming and I would like to get this rebuilt and ready to put in. And lastly I'm experancing some diffcultly with the way that this is running. I did a complete tune up on this plugs, cap, rotor, wires, point and condensor. It starts up great and idles great too, but if you rev it up fast it acts like it is cutting out it spits and sputters really bad before it finally gets up to the desired RPM then it smooths out up to about 3/4 throttle from there on up it does not want to smooth out. The exact same thing happens every time that the governer kicks in. To me it almost acts like it is getting flooded as it choks out some black smoke as well. I'm not really sure where to start. I pulled the carb off took apart and cleaned it all up and it still is doing the same thing. I sure hope that some one can steer me in the right direction on all of my questions. I thank all of you for your info in advance. Rob D

I HAVE A 700 SERIES BOBCAT THAT HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM. I CLEANED AND LUBED THE MECHANICAL TIMING ADVANCE INSIDE THE PRESTOLITE DISTRIBUTOR AND RE-TIMED THE MACHINE, THIS SEEMED TO HELP THE MOST. BUT AS MENTIONED BEFORE IN THE OTHER POSTINGS, CHECK THE AIRFLOW AND FUEL DELIVERY FOR OBVIOUS PROBLEMS.

Have you tried to run it with the air cleaner off or did this problem start after the tune up. Check carb float level ?needle and seat? is choke open all the way?Earl

i just purchased a Wisconsin VH4D engine that operates a water pump/tank skid slip-on. my wisconsin also came with no documentation.... anyway, you can find the service manual at several internet sites, but i purchased mine at>Link

as for parts, there are several internet sites out there that have Wisconsin parts....here is one that seems to have a good selection:>Link

as to your problem, it certainly sounds like a gas/air problem....is you air cleaner clean and the oil bowl filled with oil? black smoke could also be caused by poor air availabiliy, but it also be caused by the air vent in the carburetor being plugged or a carburetor needing adjustment.
