I have a John Deere 1 1/2 hp engine. The model # is E103RD, serial # 331021. Can someone give info as to year and anything else you can get through these numbers. I am also looking for a new magneto, where could I locate one, if possible?

Andy,

Mitch Malcom, owner of Lightning Magneto is a great guy and knows all about JD E engines. I had a broken governor gear and sent it out to him. He ground the old gear off and pressed on a new one, mailed it back to me and it looked like a brand spankin new one. His number is 218 367-2819. Call him. You'll be pleasantly surprised. I have a article that gives step by step instructions on rebuilding an E. Drop me a note if you would like a copy.

Jim
