A buddy of mine has one, and yes they are a good solid engine, but you MUST tear it down prior to running it and clean everything out, then reassemble the engine. You cannot beat the price if you look what a genuine Lister goes for! I have run the air cooled Chinese Yanmar clones before with good success. I run it for maybe a half hour to get it warmed up, then drain the oil really well, I let it sit till nothing even dribbles out the drain. Then I refil with Shell RotellaT 15w40 diesel oil and she is good to go.

Aloha, No, I don't have any experience with any of them but from reading various postings, it is suggested that the engine be disassembled and cleaned of any foreign particles (sand, metal, etc)and reassembled (I would use a good sealant). Most Chinese clones that I have heard about, are not finished like a quality part (rough casting, pits filled with body filler etc). I guess it is ok for the price that you pay.
