I am currently restoring a F/M ZC-52 and it runs perfect off of the start valve. When i switch it over to the tank, i have to fully choke the engine to keep it running and even then it runs very poorly. Does anyone know what might be the problem? I have checked and i do believe the line and needle valve seat are clean. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Adam

Bad or missing check valve at the bottom of the fuel line.

I'd check the fuel line and check valve very careully. Also the carb where the fuel line attaches. When you open the needle valve to the tank, you are closing the one to the starting bowl aren't you?

You'd probably get more answers by going to www.enginads.com, and clicking on the Smokstak board. Post your questions there. LOTS more engine guys hanging out on that board.
