Is there a way to patch a hole in the manifold, that will last for a "while"?

Ron, I have an old distillate manifold that I pulled off my '44 H. It had gotten water down it and froze, which cracked the body, but as far as I could tell the intake/exhaust is still separate and the tractor ran great with it on. I pulled it off because I and restoring the H. I was going to throw the old manifold away but if you want to pay shipping it's yours. Darn thing is heavy though, may cost a little to ship it. I'll check if you want me to.

I patched my M's manifold with pieces of copper cut from 2" type L copper pipe. I tapped them lightly with a small hammer to match the shape of the pipe. I then wrapped the patch with #10 ga. copper wire and silver soldered the ends. I then lined the inside with high-temp muffler and exhaust pipe sealant. Got about five good years out of it till I found a nice used one. Use one of those toothbrush sized wire brushes to really clean the inside before you start with the patch.

Ray,

Sounds like a good idea. 5 years might be my life-time.

Thanks,
