HELP,

CAN ANY ONE OUT THERE TELL ME HOW TO RESOVE THE PROBLEM THAT I HAVE WITH MY TRANSMISSION? HAVE PULLED THE TRACTOR TO TRY TO LET SOME PRESSURE OFF OF GEARS, BOTH FORWARD AND BACKWARDS. HAVE ALSO ROCK THE TRACTOR. HAVE DRAINED THE FLUID OUT TO TRY TO SEE IF I CAN SEE WHY THE GEARS ARE STUCK TOGETHER. IF ANY ONE KNOWS, PLEASE EMAIL ME BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

THANK YOU,

SAM

Naw, you don't have the break the tractor in two. You simply need a good stout prybar. Pick either of the two forks that are in gear and pry it back. It will take a good bit of force. Try one and then the other.

Most of the time there is no damage done to the gears themselves. The event happens because the shifter lever jumped out of the fork. The bad news with that is it's happened once, and is likely going to happen again. You may go years before doing it again, but this tractor has already shown a willingness to do it.

My friend had one that broke a tooth off the counter shaft and locked the transmission. You can check by taking off the top cover and looking at the bottom shaft and see if any teeth are broken. You can also have them in two gears at once. Look at the fork notches where the gear shifter goes and see if these are aligned. All three aligned it should be in neutral.
Hope this helps.

dear friend,

i looked at the inside of the transmission and i cant see the counter shaft. it is locked in two gears so tight that i can get anything to move. i guess i will have to break the tractor into to solve my problem. i jack the rear end up to try to relieve some pressure off, but this still did not do any thing.

thanks for your help,

sam

My friend had to take his apart to fix. The gears were meshed so tight that it could not be moved. He also found several bearings that needed replacing so he replaced them and the seals.
