My perfect 1855 seems to become less perfect everyday. At over 6000 hours she's a tight old girl with the exception of an oil leak around the PTO shaft bearing.

How can I repair this problem without replacing the whole casting? I have already tried a new bearing and it didn't make any difference whatsoever.

I am not that familiar with the 1855, but have worked on a few tractors. Did you check the shaft to see if it is worn in the area of the seal? If it is, get a seal runner and slip it over the shaft then install the new seal. Good Luck and I hope that this helps.

Sometimes I use SealLube Seal Expander in hydraulic systems. It works well.
