I have brought a 10hp Tech. back to life (water in the crankcase and all!) I am down to the last wire and I cannot ferret it out. There is a small harness coming from under the flywheel (from the stator); one wire goes back through the ignition switch (it is red and produces about 10 v/a worth of current when the tractor is running). The other one was apparently broken off at the harness connector (I do not know what color it was). Does any one know where this wire is suppose to go? Will the battery charge without it? The tractor has headlights, but this wire does not go there. Thanks.

Any response to your old email on the stator? My brother and I are working on his old Tecumseh. We fried the stator coils last year. Pulled the flywheel last nightand took the stator out. There are two wires coming out from under the flywheel -- one red and one yellow. The yellow has an in-line diode (very important, that's why we fried the thing) that leads to the ammeter. Now we're trying to figure out if we re-wire the stator or simply replace it. By the way, getting the flywheel off was a real buggger.

Ted,
How did you get the flywheel off ? I have an electric start 10h.p. on my Super Bronc and it has nylon fins. Do I have to take them off first ? I can use all of the help I can get. Thanx, Sam.

I wish someone had helped you with your problem because I am having the same. The wire is black that I know but where it goes I do not know. If you have found out anything let me know. I can't figure out where to place the black wire.
