Classic tractor pulls??

I have wondered and I have seen a few posts with the question of why the years of antique tractors don't move up as the years go by. But I do understand the reasoning because of the changes and advancements in tractors around 1958-59 on and it just wouldn't be fair. But I was thinking why isn't there a "Classic tractor division" for tractors from say 59-69 or some years like that. There are many in this era being restored and they seem to be getting more popular as time goes by. Many of us grew up on these tractors and they have a special place in our hearts and memories.

I have not gotten into pulling yet, but it looks like it would be a lot of fun. I don't know a whole lot about tractor pulling, just started checking it out,but I have seen a few newer tractors pulling in I think it was div 5, but these are all hot rods. I am wondering about basically stock, where can we pull?

Just some thoughts,

Later, NOHOG, KS

NOHOG- You can pull that Gvi at most antique pulls. Most I have been involved with specify '59 and older, but if the model started in '59 or before, it's allowed to pull, since the model didn't change. I pull a '61 560w, and will probably pull my '61 Gvi this year. Good luck!

It would be hard to be fair to all because all manufacturers' so called "new generation" tractors came on in differing years. If the parting line was '60/'61 which would be great for Deere then where would that leave Massey Ferguson , Oliver , Moline , Farmall or any of the others?? I favor JD but it seems the "antique" year rule was made just to fit their particular year break probably because of the switch over from the 2cyl to 4/6 cyl and complete style change. I think , also , that there should be a "classic" division for 1961 through 1975 for the obvious reasons but also because these ARE the antiques for most people born after 1960. For those guys and gals of that age that are JD freaks , the early 4010,s and 4020,s are the antique/classic tractor to have and/or restore. I believe it would help the sport tremendously and it would save a lot of "second gen" tractors from a fate a lot of the "antiques" suffered before people got the "fever'!

Thanks for the invite George but I don't get out of Kansas much, especially with the prices of fuel. But will use her for some plow days, parades and will put her to work on the farm some.
