First of all just to let you guys know I'm new to pulling but I have a ton of interest. I have noticed that there are veyr few Cases pulling but yet they seem to me like they should do well. I have a 1959 Case 801B diesel and would love to pull with it. The whole thing is stock with the 267 cu.in. engine and the COM tranny. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Larry

a friend has a 830 with a 301 and it is awesome puller in 9500 and 10500 farm stock. dont let everyone discourage you. find a weight class it will fit in easily and pull. you should be able to pull in 2 gear easy with plenty of power. it will embarass jd's and mm's in heavy classes if you can get traction.

Thanks Joe. Mine has the 267 in it and that's pretty much the way that she'll stay for now. I'm guessing it'll be a trial and error thing...

See that"s also what i need to learn is about all of the different classes and types of pulls. I"m not talkingabout a zillion horsepower puller! I would just like to get involved in some pulls and at least do a respectable job at it. I"m thinking about just leaving the ol" girl stock and having a go at it? Good idea bad idea?
Thanks for all of the insights guys,
Larry

I pull a '49 Case VAC n.f. in the 3,000 lb. class. I don't do anything fancy, that's probably why I finish at the bottom.I think I need to shorten my drawbar to get more wieght to the rear wheels. How do you figure this out w/o
trial & error? Also trying to figure how to "transfer" wieght to the rear.....
Thanx !!

They're better in the farmstock classes. They are very heavy and pretty limited on what you can do with them in the open classes without BIG bucks. Very limited on aftermarket parts for pulling too. I had a little Gas 700 Case that did really well for being only 336 cubic inches. It did pretty well in the 4 and 8mph Open classes at 5500 lb. I had to stick with 4 or 5mph at 6500 and 7500lb. Someday I want to build a 900 puller with 870 gas heads with a 4.75 bore x 7 inch stroke, but again those heads alone sell for $500 each. Then you add all the extra $$ for boring and stroking, so that project will have to wait.
There are lots more parts available for the Farmalls, M&Ms, Ollies, and they are much easier to get the weight down on them. M&Ms are probably the easiest as far as being able build a big engine with the least amount of trouble and money because of so many interchangeable parts from engine to engine. Farmalls and Olivers are built very light so it's easy to get good power to weight ratio on them.
Then you've got people who just like to spend money and keep on losing. (John Deere) No. I'm just kidding on that. I still say the prettiest pull I've EVER seen was by a JD 830 Diesel at Tunica one year. I wouldn't doubt 400hp on that tractor. Of course, it was probably at a cost of about $50,000.00 too. Some people just don't mind spending the money on what they like.
If I ever get the money, I'll spend what I want on my Case project too.

Lamont I am a big JD fan myself, but i have to agree if I was going to build a puller I would go the M&M. I do like the sound of a big JD lugging for all she's got. I seen a 530 this past season at a local pull that blew my mind he had weights hanging every where and pulled against a 730 gas and blew him away. I don't know what he had in her but she wasn't stock.
I say just build what you banker will let you and have fun.

There is a reason no one pulls them.....They trade "um for John Deeres, Farmalls, Olivers, & MMs. LOL Just kidding there is few out there pullin", mostly in the heavier classes Cases are just heavy, I know the 900"s have lots of luggin" power.
