Here are some nice old 1971 Louisville pull pictures that I found while surfing the net.

I have no idea whom the IH puller is.The red MM could be Don Nolan or Charles DeClerk from ILL.The yellow MM may be Ron Perry from Indiana before it became Solid Junk.

These pictures sure make you appreciate the smoke machine.

thanks for the pix, am making copies of old pix for my son & brother. I am Dave "Solid Junk" Stangle's oldest child & we did not have a copy of that photo - the only time he ever pulled at Louisville. the tractor was owned & built by Ron Perry of Flora, IN but dad pulled it most of the time. & yes he & my brother have a IH semi - Barnyard Binder they pull at county fairs. Dad thinks the IH is Myron Riddle. & the red MM is Charles DeClerk. Dave Stangle still lives @ Kewanna, IN

It may have been known as Solid Junk but it was one pulling SOB!! He would only go as far as it took to win.

I wish there were some better pictures of the vintage sled. It looks like there is a tractor sitting on the sled pan? Anyone have pictures of the sled?

Twenty years after that picture was taken I bought the sled. It was still in Kentucky and parts of it are still here. I used it to pull antique tractors for 10 years before building a new one. But the long pan is still on my farm and the short pan is under our new sled built in 2001 and used in 2002. Times have really changed!!These are the first pictures I have seen of the sled being used at Louisville thanks for sharing with us. John Lampkin---USAP--Owensboro,Ky. Love the pics, do you have any more? Was thinking too about Marshall Meyer, Myron Riddle, Bud Beard, Kohl"s 56s from Ohio, Dick Overmeyer. Just after that time I wrenched on Ed Carmichael"s "Ring Around" seeds 1066. Sure miss those days!

Thats all the pictures I could find for now while surfing the net.The pullers have been identified.

The 856 IH puller is probably Gary Kohl from Perrysburg,Ohio. He and Dale pulled 856's in to the early 90's.

The red G-1050 MM puller is Charles DeClerck from Taylorsville,ILLinois.

The yellow G-1000 MM puller is Dave Stangle driving Ron Perry's tractor out of Bringhurst,Indiana..Ron built and owned it but Dave did most of the driving. This was shortly before they called it Solid Junk. Those were some great times in pulling and I sure do miss them.

I'd love to find pictures of Myron Riddles,Bud Bairds, and Barns McKinnons old 1206 pullers.I do have an early picture of the late Dickie Sullivans 1206 puller called the "Duster".

I remember the "Ring Around Seeds" 1066.

Could the IH have been Marshel Meyer(?) who used to run several IH "56" series tractors around that time. And wasn't there a guy maybe by the name of Dave Strangle (?) that ran the Solid Junk MM?

Dave Stangle is still around. He's pulling a "stock, ummm" IH semi against street trucks at local fairs. Needless to say, he does well. Nice pictures.
