Hi, I have a International 1066 that I pull that has a modified turbo making 40 pounds of boost and larger injectors and it is making 400 horsepower at 3000 rpm. I was wondering who makes the best water injection kit, what do they cost, and what kind of horsepower gains can I expect? Thanks

i asked the haney boys about water injection a couple of years ago they say on pulling tractors its not really worth while unless youre making 100 pounds or better of boost.

never heard of that one.
water injection should be added anytime the exhaust gas temp gets over 1200 degrees.
a normal small system puts approx 1 quart of water every 30 seconds.
by the time you get to 100 lbs boost you will be ay 2 1/2 quarts in 15 seconds.

Snow Performance. You can find them at Jegs or Summit Racing. You can set it to come on at a preset boost. Amount is controlled with jets. Water does add HP, kinda. It allows you to run more fuel without the added heat so, therefore, more HP. Some of the diesel drag folks don't consider water a power adder. Put in some methonol and some reason it becomes a power adder. At the temps inside your motor the water breaks down to H and O2. H is highly flamable and O2 is a combustion supporter. Ever sprayed a mist of water on a really hot fire? Didn't it burn? Same concept and removes heat at the same time. Win win, run water.

Water injection will only keep your engine from blowing up from too high heat, you can only lose not gain HP. Water does not burn. If you are haveing engine problems better to drop the boost a little, you will have a more reliable engine.

the others are correct, you will gain hp with water injection.
it does not burn, but it will turn into steam which will cool from the cyl back and add mass to the exhaust which will drive the turbo harder.
also adds density to the intake air.

Well actually the water lets you put more fuel without heating so it does gain HP, it's called winning sir.

That's why we do it. If you're that afraid of it better do something else because it will happen.

I can"t tell you much of what you want to know but I did do some research for a friend and I just Googled water injection and came up with enough information for him.
