In Sept of 1969 I attended the 1969 M&W Gear CO pull and farm show at LaPlata,MO.Also in August of that year I attended the Pleasant Hill,ILL tractor pull.I have pictures from both of those pulls and have posted pictures of them on here before.
At each of those pulls the Allison Team from Shabbona,ILL was there with a UB MM with an Allison and a G-1000 MM with an Allison.1969 was the only year they used the G-1000 as in 1970 they switched to another UB MM.They pulled the 15,000 lb Unlimited class which was dropped down to 12,000 lbs in 1970 or 71.
In 1969 the only tractors to give the Allison Team a run for the money were several 8V-71 Detroit powered 4020's,several G-1000 MM's with turboed 800 MM irrigation engines running on LP,and ND Harrisons twin turboed 220 AC from Pittsfield,ILL. Bill Newlon was at each of these pulls with a G-1000 MM with a turboed 800 MM irrigation engine.He went Allison a few years later probably getting the G-1000 Allison powered tractor from the Allison Team. In 1969 the Allison team were the only ones to pull with V-12 Allisons so they were the first.Theres a nice story about them in an early NTPA Puller mag.I have every single issue of the Puller since the first one.Ralph Chamberlain probably came out in 1970-71 with the Honker 1850 Oliver Allison.
