I think I have found the problem but do not know how to remedy it. We started messing with the cam end play today and we could get oil to pump to the rockers, but we had entirely too much pressure on the cam. When you backed the set bolt off of the cam it would stop pumping. Do you have any ideas to try now? I really need help with this because I am completely lost at this point. Thanks in advance.

Hey tradition I have been down with the flu and just now read this. The thrust bolt should be adjusted without the engine running. Screw the bolt in tight to move cam back, then back off 1/4 of a turn and lock the nut.

You can run the set bolt at near zero clearance any more and you would just be pushing the cam gear into the face of the front cover. You may need to check the bolt in the nose of the cam it may have come loose i dont think that would have the effect your experienceing but it sounds like you have an alignment problem some where. Typically the slotted bolt just sticks up out of the nut when everything is right.
