Ok guys, I'd appreciate any help here you can give me. Where we pull, there has never been any RPM rules before, everyone was just allowed to open them up and have fun. I am in the process of putting together a Cockshutt 40. Over the winter, I sent the cam away and had it ground. Told the shop I wanted to run about 3000rpm. Well last night, they had somewhat of a "meeting", and decided that for insurance purposes that there would be a 3000rpm limit for all classes. My question now is, do you think this cam will work? I am thinking that it will run great at 3000 and then soon as it starts to get a load on it, it might puke. I have another cam that is out of a 262 motor meant for about 2200rpm, do you think I'd be better off putting it in, or am I perfect with my cam now? The tractor is not big cubic inch, it was meant to wind out and have fun with on the weekends. I'd appreciate any suggestions as to which cam I should run, thanks a lot.

you said "Told the shop I wanted to run about 3000rpm" -- This tells me that the shop has an understanding of how to grind a cam based on your engine and RPM.

Why don"t you tell the shop what the rules are and ask their opinion? Who knows, they may have some nifty computer software that evaluates different cam profiles.
