I went down to the Carthridge tractor pull last weekend, to watch my family pull their tractors. They charged me $6 to get in, I also went to Columbia and Wichita and was not charged. I wondered if anyone knew where the money would go to (NATPA?) Or if this is a new fee they will be charging from now on? THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!!!

Howdy,

I had some FFA members there helping with things, and the puller turnout for this was amazing. I'm not for sure on the final hook count, but it was well over 400 I think. Shoal Creek should be commended for undertaking a project of this magnitude. The pull went very smoothly with the exception of a couple things, but everyone was in good spirits at days end. A BALMY 25 degrees outside with a NASTY wind was the greatest enemy of the day....That, or the JD pullback tractor/mosquite fogger....I think the EPA is still investigating the smoke from that sucker!!

Ya'll have a good day, go to our FFA website if you get a second and sign our guestbook...

i wonder what the charge for the building was cause for the amount of hooks and 25 dollor hook fee, we could of used some payback to help cover the 600 mile drive.

The $25.00 hook fee is set by NATPA not the club putting on the show. All NATPA pulls are $25.00. Part of that money goes to NATPA and part goes to the club. The club being the one that has all the expense. Hope you did well at Carthage, and will consider coming back.

i would think of coming back, i know the hook fee is set by natpa. i would rather pull for some cash back. the 2 things i saw wrong was the truck sled, and the roller not keeping up. i know it's up to promoter on what to give cash or other prises. columbia pays some cash, witchita i think payed div1 and div5. why those 2 classes i don't no.

As the promotor the cost of the building and our expenses are propriety information. I can say that we discussed placques vs. payback and the general concensus from our club and 2 other promotors who put pulls on in the area was placques as opposed to payback, so we went with placques. It would appear that you want both a trophy/placque and a payback, or do you only want a payback?

All our advertising, including that in THE HOOK Magazine stated that we were giving out trophies for the first 5 places in each class, so being awarded a trophy/placque should have come as no surprise. Never was there a mention of a "PAYBACK".

This was our first national pull and we have learned a lot from it. I noticed that Wichita gave out placques and no one mentioned paybacks after their pull, I am not sure what Columbia did. And from your other messages it appears that you have been to both Columbia and Wichita, yet you did not mention payback at their pulls as opposed to placques.

I am sorry you were looking for payback money after traveling 600 miles, but I am sure this was not your first "rodeo" and I am sure it will not be your last. I will take your comment to our meeting and discuss it with the other members. I have no idea what they will decide for next year, but I hope whatever is decided will not hinder you from coming to another pull in Carthage.

Have a Great Day and Happy Pulling.

If they gave plaques for 5 places my yougest son got shorted, he was fourth in his class and never recieved a plaque.Other than that the only valid complaint I have was whoever paid the weatherman must have "shorted" him!Ha! Let me know about the award.

I feel that $6.00 was a bargain to watch that many quality hooks.Putting on a pull can run in to alot of money these days with building rental, sled rental, insurance, advertising, etc.

The owner of the Arena charges $6.00 per person for all events held at his arena whether it be a rodeo, horse show, or tractor pull, it is charge that comes with his facility. NATPA nor Shoal Creek received monies from the arena charge. As a futher note, when the Carthge Shriners hold their pull in the summer, everyone entering the grounds pays a $6.00 fee, including the pullers, workers, and spectators. The puller receive $6.00 back from their initial hook fee. To my knowledge no pullers were charged at the Carthage pull last weekend.

NATPA doesn't get the money. This charge is up to the prometers to help cover the cost of putting the pull on.
