okay, there is a couple of ways to more r's,
1. adjust the linkage rod that runs from the governor to the carb.this is under the capon top of governor housing, we turned, 2400r's doing this.
if you want more?

2.cut you a piece of flat steel ,needs to be same length as governor spring when throttle is at idle, remove spring and drill holes in plat to match holes where spring was hooked, then bolt in and put governor cover back on and have some fun,
i am turning about 3500r's, hope this helps, sure helped us. we did balance our engine, this helps knock down some of the friction.email me back and let me know if you like what i have told you.

If you want more rpm all you have to do is change the spring in gov.But don't put to small of a spring in it or you have some problems.. I changed my spring in my stock trator and it runs 2000 rpms.We don't just pull it we grined feed with it and no problems yet spring been in there for a year motor still o.k. Just my two cents.

All The guy wanted to know was how to turn up his RPMs a little.

39M, Get a tach and an IH or IT manual for your M find the governor adjustment for high idle and follow the instuctions for adjustment. I believe that it is 1550RPM now. If the spring and governor are in decent shape you can increase the high idle to 1850 and pick up a good bit of power with out worry of slinging the rods into the spectators, our Ms ran in the field at that RPM. Going past 1850? Better seek advise from sombody that knows a bit more than me, AND apperantly the other 'sperts on here.

if it's a diesel, then you could try to turn up the maxium amount of fuel the injector pump gives...it could icrease a couple of hundreds rpms. If it's gas, i think it could be tuned up by modificating the governor.

Remember from high school physics class that centrifical force and inertia increase at the square root of rpm. For example going from 1500 to 2121.3 rpm doubles the stress.

The correct term is CENTRIPETAL, not centrifical.

Actually, not trying to be a smartie or anything, but centrifugal force is the force that attempts to go outward from the center of a circular path, and centripetal is the force that attempts to go inward to the center. All that action/equal and opposite reaction stuff, you know....

man if you dont know how then you shouldnt be doing it because you are going to throw a rod and put other peoples safety in jeporady, let it be because most places only like 10 or 20% over anyway, if you do then get someone to do it for you.
