I have a 35 year old Snapper mower apart and ready for sand blasting.

This'll be my first time painting any type of vehicle. I have a cheap Cambell Hausfield Compressor and Spary Gun. It came in the "Ultimate Garage" Package.

Looking for a good finish that will stand up to bumps, scrapes, and spilled gasoline, etc. I plan on using it as it was intended when I am done. It will be stored inside, but UV resistance would be nice.

Rustoleum Sunrise Red and XO-Rust Tractor Red both seem to be good matches to Snapper Red. I haven't been down to TSC yet to see what matches.

Can I add add hardener to XO-Rust or Rustoleum? From what I have read I can cut either with Acetone. Sound right? Or am I just better off with the BSP as I can get the hardner and thinner right there at TSC?

Would like some opinions as to what will stand up best. Would like to only paint it once in the next 30 years :-) .

The clerk at ACE hardware recommended I paint the underside of the mower deck with Rustoleum 'Hammered" I guess it's their version of Hammerite. He said he painted his with it a a year ago and it has yet to wear off. Sounds like a good idea. Any one else done it.

Thanks,
