Nason is DuPont, isn't it -- the DuPont code for IH 2150 is 96766 or 6951 AL. I don't know why there are two numbers, as I haven't used Dupont. The code won't change with the quality or price of the paint. Both of these numbers cross to 2150, IH 50 is Dupont 7410, which was for pre-1949 tractors, so don't let them sell you that.

CN,

According to DuPont, the 96766 is available in a number of different chemistries and quality levels in both the DuPont main line and the "economy" NASON line. The code (color) number is the same for all of them. Here's what is available from DuPont for 96766. Everything below the Imron listing is in the NASON line:

The 6951 number shows up as being unique for Lucite, DuPont's trademark name for their acrylic lacquer. That's probably what the "AL" after the number designates.

Thanks for the info. Im going with the Nason 2k ful thane urethane. Ive already got a price quote on the complete system. I figure 2 parts etching primer( 1 gal), 1 1/2 gal ful thane urethane primer and 1 1/2 gal paint. All came out to $435. I think thats a pretty good deal. This old tractor should look good for years to come.

Glad you told me that -- the two codes were taken from a book I have, the author has done much research and is very familiar with IH, but is not a paint expert. I sure wouldn't want to paint a tractor with acrylic laquer! Would look nice (before it fades in a month or so) but forget durability. I'm going to forget the 6951 code. Thanks!!
