I'M LOOKING FOR A GOOD AMERICAN BRAND SANDBLASTING CABINET IN THE $350.00 OR LESS RANGE TO HELP ME RESTORE THE OCCASIONAL TRACTOR. I'M NEW TO THIS BUT AM LOOKING AT A SKAT BLAST MODEL 780-TL BLAST CAB. ANY OPINIONS ON THIS MODEL? I'D APPRECIATE ADVICE ABOUT OPERATION AND WHAT TO LOOK FOR OR AVOID BEFORE I MAKE A PURCHASE. THANK YOU.

Skat is good stuff. A good thing to remember about blasting equipment is that none of it is too scientific. About the only differences are features, the quality of valves etc. I belive Skat makes their own guns while lots of others use Sandy Jets. I would beware of cheaper units with no name guns only because of wear parts availibility a few years down the road. Parts do wear fairly quickly in the guns. When I bought my cabinets I knew what size I wanted, how I wanted to load them (top or side) and that I wanted Sandy Jet guns or a good name brand like Tip or Skat. I also like foot control as finger valve guns will wear on you pretty quick. As I always advise, your air compressor capacity will most likely control how fast you get done, not how much you spend for a fancy cabinet. It takes a pretty good compressor to keep up with even the smallest air jets in the syphon guns used in blasting cabinets.
