I painted our 6788 last summer and it was a huge job, comparable to two two wheel drive tractors in my opinion. For the 1486 I think I would charge $800 for labor plus all materials, this way if he wants to save money on cheap paint it won't come back on you later when it fades. I think $1200 plus materials would be in the ball park for the 6588. When I painted our 6788 I removed all four rims + tires, hoods, cab trim, doors and fenders, it was a lot of work but it lets you do a better job. If anybody was at the Red Power Roundup last summer the 6788 there was ours.

I have restored several old cars & tractors. You will need to know up front what he is planning to do with the tractors when he is finished. Show or Go? It is time consuming if you have to sand blast, repair, prime, paint, detail. You can easily have a 100 hours in work per tractor. Paint can be cheap or expensive. Tractor Supply paint is cheap, $20 a gallon, and that's what you need if it's a "Go" tractor. PPG, Dupont or other name brands are very expensive in reds and maroons. $150 a gallon. That's what you need for a "show" tractor. At any rate he needs to foot the bill for "All" the material. Labor rates vary, I charge $30 for the first 25 hrs and $20 per hour after that. Your time is worth something. You need to decide if you want to do it for fun or you are doing it to make money. You can adjust your rates accordingly. Good Luck!

Real cheap.... if it's my tractor.

Your rates might differ depending on how many toys your neighbor has and how often you might have opportunity for his returned favors.
