I just want to make sure that I understand all of the archived posts that I have found and read. PPG hardeners seem to work well with John Deere brand Classic Green & the yellow and JD thinner. Specifically what line of PPG hardeners (OMNI, etc) is good and then what is the ratio? I know that this is the millionth time that this has come up but I want to make sure that I have it right.

Thanks

I've been restoring tractor for 6 years and with John Deere paints I use dupont 3812 reducer and Dupont 77s hardener. 10 parts paint 1 part reducer 1 part hadener. Works well for me. 3812 is a fast dry reducer. If you need it to dry slower use a slower dupont reducer. DO NOT use John Deere reducer to slow it down, it will lose it's gloss. The only thing I've found John Deere reducer to good for is to clean the gun with when your done.

I use acrylic enamel hardener and reducer with JD and Case IH paints, Hardener ratio is 8:1, I dont use the JD reducer, I have used Omni, Western, and painters pride, I like the painters pride brand the best, (hardener & Reducer)

Just my opinion and for what it's worth. Do yourself a favor and don't get into mixing and matching brands and playing chemist.Use a system and use it the way it is meant to be used. You can't make "something" out of "nothing" Good Luck.
