I took six days on the hood alone to get it ready. Sanded it pretty smooth and then put bondo on the whole thing. Sanded it all the way back down to the metal in most places so that the bondo only filled in the little rust pits. The deepest part of the bondo was the thickness of a quarter or less. Took some time so I hope it looks good. The first time that I have done this. I may have more questions later. Thanks

You are probably ok. I shoot for 1/16 inch, I measured a quarter and that's about what it is. If you have an area with any deep scratches or pinholes, give it a coat of spot putty (the single part type is adequate) and sand off excess before you prime.

That is exactly what I did and I just got in from putting the first coat of primer on the underside. I will do the top later tonight.
