What is the difference between red oxide & grey primer. I have always used red oxide in the past, believing it to be more "rust resistant" is this true?

Ya need to be usin epoxy primer.Thats what all body shops have gone to.Its the only primer that completely seals water from gettin down to the metal.Water will go right through all paint except epoxy. Thats also why bondo used to heave. It wasn't primed with expoy.

I don't think one is more rust resistant but some paints cover better with grey vs red for me.

The only reason I chose one over the other depended on the base coat being applied.ie-gray primer when painting white.~brad
