Are there any paint experts here who can technically explain why primer always dries much faster than the paint. At least it works that way for me. I non-technically suspect there are quite different elements in each that cause the different times. Thanks

For 1 paint must dry slower so that it can flow out smooth and the other reason is that it has clear in it and it has to lay wet long enough for the clear to rise to the top and give it it's gloss. Another reason is so that each succeding stroke of the gun will melt in to the one before and all overspray will melt in also. That's why it is so important to have the thinners/reducers/catylist's all matched to the temperature at which you are spraying and to the overall size of the area you are spraying.
