I just purchased an AW grader that is a mystery to me and everybody who has seen it. I would appreciate any help you can give me in identifing it even though this is a tractor bulletin board I would guess that many of you are familiar with lots of equipment. I can send pictures if you think you can help. The grader is small, about 18 ft long, single rear axle, rear drive only, has a cab, weighs 9200 lbs, and generally looks like a small grader. The serial number is 355620 (3 is unclear) on a plate at the front right side of the goose neck. The engine and power unit is 1948 international 4 cyl H engine serial number EOBH M17168 (like a Farmall H) and the power unit has IU4 EUBH 2575 on a plate on top. Thanks for your help!

Research shows following"older"models
Bantam
Champ
Pacer
88's in various configs
99's " " "
300 series " "
400 series " "
etc,etc
I would suspect it may be a Bantam or Champ as others seem to be AWD and/or 6x6 configurations.Did this unit come from dealer in Ohio? Saw listing for one there that sounds the same.

The Grader was advertised a while ago by an individual in Ohio. There is a painted over name of Co. State Bridge Contractor from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Do you have pictures or literature for a Bantam, Champ, or Pacer? The other ones you mentioned are not it. Thanks!

Mark; The guy that owned Co State Bridge was Pat Sterling, he sold out to a company in Ft. Wayne ,In. called Howard Martin Inc. I guess they bought most of Pat's cranes. Martin's phone number is ; 260-447-5591 and their address is ;4315 Meyer Rd. Ft. Wayne In. 46806 Ask fot Tim or Jerry they run the outfit . Mark, Iused to work for a asphalt co. in Ft. Wayne called Dailey Asphalt Inc. back in 1957 , worked there for 30 years .. They had austin western equipment,, A-W graders , 98, super 88 both of them 6 wheel drive and the back tandem turned ,, I broke in on those graders . one was a straight 3 speed with a 3 sp. aux. the other had a 3 speed with a tork on it,, that was the best one. Other equipment Dailey had was a 3 ton tandem 5 ton tasndem, 10 ton tandem , and a 3 wheel 10 ton . I about forgot they had a A-W grader that had 4 wheels on it ,, 2 in front and 2 in back, all drivers ,, and you could steer it at the front and the back turnedtoo. hope this helps you finding yer crane. ps ..if you have any pictures of any A-W graders ,, I would greatly appreceiate it if u could send me some at my e-mail address .. thank u Mark ,, later ,,Bill
