Just looking through the last issue of Antique Power Magazine and there was an article about a fellow who collected "orphan and oddball" tractors. One of them was a Rockol, a few of which I have seen at shows up here in central Alberta. They were sort of a "generic looking" tractor, similar to others made from jobber components. The article mentioned briefly that they were made in Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) by the Rock Oil Company. I grew up in Edmonton and this is the first time I ever heard of this. Also, I've never had that mentioned to me by any of the local tractor guys that I know. Can anyone out there verify (or dispute) this?

Albertamike,
Reguarding your question about Rockol tractors,They were actually built by the Harry A. Lowther Co. in Shelbyville Indiana.I believe they were first offered in 1947.By the late 1950's they were being built by the custom tractor mfg. co.in Hustisford Wisconsin. The Canadian tractors were the same machine except they were given different names. The tractors in eastern Canada were sold under the Rockol name and the tractors in western Canada were sold under the Regal name. One unique factoid about Customs was that they had a gyrol fluid drive transmission,I dont know if the Rockol or Regal tractors did.I live in eastern Kansas and have actually seen a few Customs here, one of which is not far from my home.I hope to someday soon become the owner of that tractor.Hope this helps!

The Rockol was made by the Custon Manifactoring Co. in Shelbyville, Ind. You can have a Custom, Rockol,Wards,Simpson,Lear's Big Boy, they are all the same tractor. The company made them and sold them to who ever would buy. They would even put your name on it. I have a Lear and it looks like all the rest.
