Farm Trac 45 60 tractors. Are they Ford 3000 series tractors?

I saw the other day a tractor called Farmtrac 45 and a 60. The 45 sure looked like a 3000 and the 60 more like a 3910 or 3930.

Any comments on these tractors? How do they compare to in particular to the Ford 3000. While they look the same on the outside, are their parts identical and interchangable with the 3000? What about relative quality vs the old Fords?

It almost makes me want to buy one of those 45's and pull off the Farmtrac stickers and replace the logos with Ford 3000!

Are the labels the only differences????

Thanks,
Bill

As a LongAgribusiness dealer, I can tell you that you are correct in your assumption that about the only difference is in the labels. Many part numbers are the same as the Ford numbers.
They are made in the same plant in India that the Fords were.
They are really nice tractors at reasonable prices.

PS; Why would you want to pull off the Farmtrac labels? Ford no longer makes tractors.

I would like more information and prices on these tractors. Also, include information on horsepower and etc.

Were the Ford 3000 series tractors made in India and other locations, and now production continues only in India with sales under another label? Is there more detailed information about the resurrection of some of the "old reliable, basic" models available? I would guess lower production costs/lower profit per unit plays in somewhere. Why hasn't the Oliver 550 been cloned?

We have an old Ford 3000. I don't know, it just seems to me that Ford would look better on that old tractor design!

In defense of Farmtrac, however, I am somewhat relieved that Ford is out of the tractor business, IMHO one more product line Ford can't foul up!

Thanks,
Bill

I have been looking at the 45 for a couple of months. I have looked at all tractors from the massey to the deere. The 45 is the best deal for me and I was wondering the same thing about it being a 3000 ford. My grandpa bought a new 3000 when I was 14 years old. I really like the tractor but am wondering if the parts are made of the same quality of the fords and the resale 15 years down the road. Any info would be appreciated. I am glad to here that the fords were built in India and the 45 is built on the same assembly line. Thanks

From what I understand they are coming from Farm Trac in India. They make them there under license from Ford,NH,now CNH Global. If they are like the other Indian clones(Mahrinhda-IH,Tafe-MF)of other manufacturers, then they are pretty much identical except for upgrades.

Now. For a question to the dealers. I spliced the two wires from the nuetral switch into a toggle switch, after the switch went bad. I could toggle the switch on to start the tractor, and flip it off after the tractor had started. Today the toggle sparked when I hit the key and the tractor now has no lights in the oil and temp bezels when I turn the key. No headlights, nothing.

Where is the fuse that obviously blew between the battery and the ignition? Or is there not one....and the ignition fried?

All the fuses for the running lights and hazards are only 5 and 10 amp units....so they couldn't handle direct battery. Besides, they were all fine when I checked.
