Doees anyone know where i can find a huge resource on series 71 Detroit engines. I am involved in a project that requires me to modify one for testing purposses but there is no one stop source for tech info regarding these engines. I have called Detroit Deisel and they are not of much help considering they don't want to give away engineering scematics. Also this is a pretty old and out dated engine that not o many of the current engineers are familliar with. Hey thanks, please help if you can.

I've got a 471 in a 1953 GMC 650 cab & chassis. I keep thinking I'm going to put a bed on it some day. They are a good sounding engine.

Go to an established truck shop and ask to speak with the oldest partsman and mechanic and see if they have any of their tech manuals left. It's been a while but every second highway truck, workboat, crane, or big compressor had one of these things howling away for hours on end.
