Bought a IMT last fall and I am looking to see if there are any others on this forum that own one of these tractors. Drop me a note, would love to hear from others who have an IMT. Maybe we can share some resources. I am new and understand that some of the parts can be got from M.F. dealers.

I BOUGHT A IMT 539 15 YEARS AGO AND IT STILL
RUNS LIKE A NEW ONE. ALL FILTERS WATER PUMP, AND
OTHER PARTS SEEM TO BE MASSEY REPLACEMENTS.

WORKS LIKE A GOOD MULE!

"Robinson and Grissom" in Guntown, MS was the IMT distributor. They are now the Tafe distributor. So far, I've been able to get any IMT part I've needed from them. I'm also a tractor dealer and yes, many Massey parts do fit them because IMT built tractors for Ma

Hi Mike and Geo, yes I am familiar with R & G in Guntown Miss. I ordered this past winter an manual for the 542 Deluxe. What I needed at the time was a electrical drawing of the tractor. All the manual had was the starter and alternator, no other electrical drawings. But I will need the adjustments and other mechanical drawings that came with this book, some time in the future. Thanks for the tip though. I messed up the seperator drain on the first fuel filter and might end up having to buy the bottom part of that filter unit. I was told later by a fellow that the darn thing is left hand thread, boy I feel stupid. I stop just in time to see the darn thing about to shear off.

Anyway, do I presume that you two fellows have a IMT then?

Thanks for the replies. I am going to put you two in the address book for future help. See I am a electrician by trade and some times mechanical things throw me a loop to understand.

Thanks again.

I used to sell IMT a few years ago, just before the country that made them blew up. Since you have a 542, don't put a loader on this model unless you build a sub frame between the front end and the bell housing. The problem with the 542 is that if a loader is mounted in the coventional manner, all the stress is on the oil pan. Which can't take alot of abuse. Rough terrain ect.

Geo, sounds like you know some stuff about these IMT tractors. I am playing with the idea about putting some kind of finish mower on this unit. I have a lot of open ground and would like to get it in some shape. Dont expect to get it to look like some suburban subdivision lawn, but something nice in a country way. Would you suggest a belly mower or a pull behind? Would you give a example/model of the type you suggest. I have been leaning towards a pull behind model, but have no experience with either. Thanks P.S. if belly, what kind of extra hardware will I need. If the following sound like some stupid questions. Please keep in mind I am a stupid city boy that just got sick and tired of the suburban life style. again thanks

I would go with the rearmount mower if your land is reasonbly flat, a 6 footer. I would invest in a spray rig also, to help control weeds.

Thanks Geo for your suggestion. Ya, I am thinking that a powered sprayer might come in handy. Darn tent worms are really bad around here. Darn things really chew up my few apple trees. I would use the power sprayer to spray all along the property and might even take it up and down the road, spraying anything that I can get to without going on others property. Might help cut down the tent worm population some in the area.

Again, thanks

hi, sandy I saw where you were looking for a part for an IMT tractor. I am also looking for a power steering pump for a model 560 IMT tractor. Did you ever find a dealer or parts place? If so please let me know.

Thanks,

Hughie

Some parts can be purchased for MF dealer, depending on which IMT (imitation massey trator) you have. Might check with a outfit Grissom&? in Guntown, Miss.
