help!!! I bought a 445 long tractor it runs great the tractor sat outside for about 4 years never been moved or started. The transmission had gotten moisture inside it when we fired it up the 3 pt hitch didn't work. Cleaned the filter and oil fired it up and 3 pt worked for a short while can't get it to work again!! I have a manual for tractor but does not show what kind of hydraulic or transmission fluid to use think I need to use thicker. what kind of oil does the long 445 use in the transmission and 3 pt?????

One problem that keep the 3 point from working is the spring loaded check valve that is located just under the seat. Use a 1 1/16 wrench and remove the hex head plug. Remove the large but weak spring and pull the hollow cone shape valve out. Clean and reinstall making sure it works freely up and down.

I use AW 46 Hy/Tr fluid which I buy at SAMS. Just make sure the transmission is very clean before putting in new fluid. Reminder, that in-line filter must be very clean.

Andy, search the archives by something like "Long hydraulic problems" and you should find discussions that I have had with other Long owners. Some of the info may help you. Ask if you have more questions.
