I am looking at a 560 Long tractor to be a project. It has a 4 cyl. diesel engine that lost its oil pressure due to loose mounting of oil pump. Any one know about these tractors? Any info would be helpful. Thanks Jim

Sorry to change the subject, but I'm trying to figure out the value of a 510 with loader made around '85. Any thoughts?

They are Ford knock offs built in Romania by UTB tractor co. and imported here under the Long name. They are made under liscence to Fiat, which bought the Ford agricultural division in '79. Good sturdy tractors. I have a 510 that runs whenever I need it to. Incidentally, Allis Chalmers 4040s, 5050s, 6060s are the same tractors as the Long 460,510 and 560. Also, from what I've seen, the castings on some New Holland tractors are the same as on my Long. The tractor business is getting so generic.

First off, the 310 - 680 Longs had nothing to do with Fords whatsoever. They ARE Fiat knockoffs, but came about well before Ford started using Fiat components.

The AC 5040 is the same basic tractor as the Long 445(and, other than sheet metal, the later Long 460), but the 5050 has a different bore(103MM VS 95) engine.

The AC 6060, 6070, and 6080 use Fiat drivetrains and AC powerplants, cabs, front ends, etc.

Phil, the evidence does not support some of your statements. Ford made tractors in Troy Michigan years after 1979. Allis 5040 (made in Romania) is very similar mechanically to the Long 460 and many parts will interchange. Allis 4040? Allis 5050 was made in Italy, but the 6060 was made in USA. The 6060 Allis is larger than the Long 610, so the Long 560 is not the same as the Allis 6060 at all.

0.k. Just repeating what I've read on the Fiat thing. And even though Ford was still making tractors in the U.S., they may have only been a partial owner of the ag. division at that time. On the AC thing,I should'nt have said the 6060 was a Fiat. But the others are foriegn made for sure.

Hmmmmm .....a few mistakes there. First off Fiat Agri bought Ford-New Holland in 1991,not 1979. Second the 60xx series from AC is Fiat from the tranny back,AC in front of there. Third UTB builds some tractors that are licensed Fiat copies.

They are pretty good tractors. Low tech. Very reliable. Hydrylics arn't that good. Will hang on to my 2360.
