I've got to replace the clutch in a 350 Long soon, does anyone have any info on the adjustment procedure?

On the right side of the tractor, there is a plate held with 2 bolts to access the adjustments for the fingers for the 2 stages of the clutch. Even better access with the pressure plate removed from the tractor. Factory specs call for 0.060 clearance between the fingers. A mechanic with lots of experience on these told me that after a bit of wear, 0.045 works much better and that he has encountered a few that are best at 0.030. Other makes uses different specs, but I have been told that Massey-Fergusons with some wear work best at tighter adjustments.

It has been a long time since I worked on a Long. I would just make sure the main release fingers are the same height after reinstalling it. You can adjust the pto clutch by snugging down the 3 screws around the outer edge of the housing then back off 1 turn. You will have access to these adjusting screws through a access plate on right side of bell housing when tractor is reassembled.

On later model Longs with hand clutch we had a gauge tool we used to set main and pto clutches.
