Martin, 4300 $ seems a little high to me, albeit it does have some very desirable impliments. If the tractor isn't leaking fluids profusely or have a lot of blow by coming out of the blow-by tube and is clean in the way of being garaged or barn kept than make him an offer. I have had mine for almost 12 years now and it is a hard working little mule. Good luck, RC

under the seat facing forward you will find a lever. this controls how fast the arms will go down and it also locks the up. it should have the word lock on one side and plow on the other. anywhere from straight up to the plow side will release the hydralics

Tim, I have the same tractor and the plate you speak of was on mine as well. My manual doesn't actually make reference to it, but, as a WAG I would have to believe it is in there for valve to piston clearance. My manual has the torque at 47-51 ft/lbs. Valve clearance is .010 inch. for both intake and exhaust. Hope this helps.

I have an opportunity (if that is the 'case') to buy or swap for a 'Bison'. Is it a good tractor? I'll admit I'm not a expert on farm equipment. I grew up in the country, but I had no dealin's with a 'Bison'....let me know....buy it or run for my life. I'll check this 'site' later. I have tractor that some say is a Ford Jubilee but my research says that a 'Jubilee' had small drum brakes (12"-14"). My tractor has 16" brakes. What does that mean? Any insight is appreciated. I've been told that it could be a '9N'! ..... let me know. Thanks

I am by no means an expert on farm equipment, but right now I own a S650g and would much rather have a Jubilee or a 9N. The Satoh is a good tractor, don't get me wrong. Mine has served me well. If the Bison you are looking at is in good shape and has a great maintenance record, than chances are it won't be a bad deal. But, if the tractor looks like its been ridden hard and put away wet or doesn't look to be to well maintained, steer clear. Parts aren't cheap, (with exception to the aftermarket stuff that can be found). I have said it before, with any tractor, especially one that is hard to find parts for maintenance is critical. Hope this helps. RC

Thanks for the word. I think this particular 'Satoh' tractor is a good deal.....only 643 hrs. Old man owned it earlier. I may restore the ford 9N....have you seen the money people are asking for them (9N).

The Lucas part# for the distributor cap is DDJ209. NAPA also carries the ignition parts and filters (even an air filter for under $14). I have all of the part #'s, but they're at work. If you need them email me and I will get them for you.

Satoh = Mitsubishi. There are dealers that sell parts but locating one may be a problem. In my case he's only a mile away. I have no knowledge of parts availability for the 650 but I've been able to get whatever needed for a 372.

Did you ever successfully located a electronic ignition conversion for the 650 G? I would like to do the same with mine as the points seem to be a recurring issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Poteet;

Have you looked at 'CASE' products? If your tractor is smaller than 40HP models then it is likely that 'Case IH' may have your parts. Check your local dealer...expensive but availible!?
