Steering works hard/slow. Can anyone offer help. Fluid levels OK, raises, tilts, lowers OK. Has Continental 4 cyl engine, LP gas, automatic 2-speed transmission - forward, reverse. What would make it steer hard?

Underneath the steering wheel is a steering orbital motor. Fancy name for a hydraulic gyrometer. These will wear out and cause hard steering. If everything else is ok this is where i would go. Been in the forklift business for 15 years.

First thing you would have to check is fluid pressure. If your machine is equipped with power assist and pressure is normal, you may have to replace control valve. I am relaying what I experienced with a 5500 lbs. Clark.
