Just bought a 445 LONG tractor , motor was run out of oil and locked up. Wondering where I can get parts or another motor for it. It has front wheel assist and a loader on it. Also what it is worth? Any help would be appreciated. DOUG

Just bought a 1973 Long 445, and would like to buy a used front end loader.

Thanks,
David

I believe that the basic engine is the same for the 445, 350, 360, and 460. The horsepower ratings varied, but evidently that was the fuel settings. S&J Motor Company West of Winston-Salem NC has 2 Longs that have been burned, condition of main engine components unknown. 336-961-2228. For NC only, 800-634-0672. Ask for Steve, tell him that Dixon fellow said to call him.

I have a 445 with a front end loader. The model is built in Romania by UTB circa 1973 - 1976. Have had mine for 2 years and haven't had any problems other than electrical which a new battery solved.

Your best bet is to find a Long dealer in your area. I happen to live in NC which is where Long has their headquarters (Tarboro). Try www.longagri.com to see if they can locate a dealer for parts. Another option is to find a parts tractor or used parts dealer as I know Long parts are fairly expensive.

Your best bet would be a Long dealer in your area. I don't know about your model, but some Long's are Fiat or older ford models copycats built somewhere else. Check with DIESEL a regular on this site, he is knowlegable on the Fiat stuff.

Good luck!

I bought a Long 445 with a year ago with the same problem. I found parts in Tarboro,NC at Long Manufacturing. I had to go to Green's Auto Salvage in Fremont,NC to get a used rod ($85.00). The phone there is 1-800-682-9172 and I think they will ship your parts anywhere. It is a huge tractor boneyard. If they don't have it, it wasn't made. I have $1600.00 in my Long so far. It's ugly but it runs good. There is one thing to look out for. Engine oil can be sucked into the hydraulic system. This is probably what happened to your tractor. Good Luck!

I don't think so. They will put hyd oil in the crankcase not the other way.The seal on the pump shaft will leak and let oil drain into the crankcase see it many times I yet to see one suck oil from the crankcase they are not that good of pumps to start with.

The shop manual says it will suck the oil out of the crancase if the seals are bad in the pump. I replaced the seals in my pump after I noticed the engine losing oil. I also noticed the hydraulic oil in the rear end rising on the dipstick. The engine was recently rebuilt with new gaskets and seals. The guy I know at Long Manufacturing also says the hyd. pump will suck the oil out of the crancase. I do agree that the pump is not very good. The replacement unit is made by Bosch so it is probably a lot better than the original.
