Front Wheel Removal - I need some help !

I'm attempting to remove the single front wheel from my Avery A and I'm having quite a problem. It has a single 7/8" axel that is really like a long bolt about 13" long or so. It has a regular bolt hexhead at one end and a castelated nut at the other end that threads on. My manual says that the bolt should just back out. There are two large 2" hex-size (narrow) adjusting nuts that also thread on this axle next to the bearing (or whatever bearing or bushing system is used - I can't tell yet until I get it apart). These adjusting nuts lie on the inside of the forks that support the wheel (they are almost like the cone adjustment nuts on an older bicycle wheel that has the loose ball bearings. My manual (no diagram) says the bolt should thread right out after removing the axle nut. I assume the adjusting nuts must be held while doing this and I have fabricated a couple of 2" spanners to hold those big 2" adjusting nuts. I can only back the axle bolt out about 3 turns before the whole thing binds up. The problem (I think) is the adjusting nut that is near the bolt-head end of the axle, that's the one that seems to bind on the axle thread. Is there anyone out there that can email me a diagram of how this assembly is set up? Do you think that the axle might be bent? Or, perhaps you could just describe it if you don't have a diagram. Exactly what kind of a bearing system does this use? Any help on how this thing is set up or how to get the axle bolt out would be appreciated. Thanks.

Alberta Mike,I'm glad I'm not the only one that had this problem.The adjusting bolts have nothing to do with the axle,they are treaded on a tubing that the axle goes thru.The axle is supposed to come out after you take the castle nut off,nothing else holds it in,on mine it was just rust and crap in it and could not get out.I ended up cutting off axle between clevis and adjusting nut and had to put it in lathe to drill it out.I just made a new one on my lathe for a replacement.
