BF Avery V trans

Anybody know why these trans are water damaged so easily. Wheres it get in. I've looked at or had people check out several (as I've been looking to find a usable one for quite a while) and all have been badly rusted like mine. After mines done I guess my wife will have to part outside!

Even though they are stored indoors, a dirt floor in cold weather conditions will create condensation on, and in your tractors. Those weren't noted for having the best shift lever boot either. I'll be looking for a second gear (among other things once I start, I'm sure) for a nice little V we have here waiting for restoration.
