Last Sat eve I was driving my 1967 Oliver 1950 off the track after pulling the 14,000 lb class.I suddenly lost the power steering and now its a bear to turn.Any ideas on where to start looking? It has oil.

If the rest of the hydrolic works then it a broken main spring in the flow divider. Its by your left heel.you can remove the spring and turn the 2 broken ends out and reinstall. That way you can use it untill a replacement can be had.

Other hydraulic functions working properly? You can use a gauge to pressure test the pump, or just hook up to a good heavy implement to see if you can still lift it. If other hydraulic functions seem to work as before, I would first disassemble and inspect the flow divider for the power steering circuit; on most of the hydraulic units out there (not all, there are differences) the flow divider is the fist-shaped valve body bolted onto the front left side of the hydraulic reservoir housing.

Yes,its the 1950 that pulled at Nevada,MO.I thought it did a nice job for being stock and having to go up against my 1456 IH which has 20.8's and nearly double the horsepower.

The 1950 will soon be getting some N-70 injectors and 600 more rpms.Hope to be able to run high 3rd the next time out at 13,200 and high 2nd at 14,000 without shifting down.Just finished sharpening the tires last night.
