I wish I had read the scam alert in the classified ads. It says beware of foreign people trying to buy items with US bank money orders or checks for about twice the purchase amount (they turn out to be counterfeit). Then they want you to send them the difference. I agreed to one of these without thinking it through. The bank needs 7 business days to make sure it clears. I have told him this. This person is being very pushy about getting his money. Doesn't seem real concerned about getting the tractor. I have been accused of stealing his money (not true), avoiding his phone calls (I have an answering machine--no messages), and now had my life threatened. I am pretty sure he is bluffing. I did tell him that any stranger here will be greeted with the business end of a 12 gauge Remington sporting a slug barrel. Anyhow I am wrapped up in this mess. According to his "associate" in the US I have cashed the money order and am sitting on his cash. The bank told me it would be next week before they would know one way or the other. That doesn't seem to matter to this person. Oh what the heck--his name is Solomon Nelson. Anybody else out there heard of him? I have since gotten the same type offer on some other items from other individuals. I have told them cash only sale and have never heard anything back. I guess this is what I get for thinking most people are decent and taking them at their word.

I had a guy wanting to make a deal this way just this morning on my 4020. He said that he would give me the money if that was ok. I sent him an e-mail back alerting him that it wasn't going to be sold out of the states, sounds like the same guy, I'm glad I read the "other green" forum :)

That's an old scam. Don't send them any money. If you have not already contacted the police, you should report it.

Am waiting for the money order to clear the bank it supposedly came from. I guess I will know this week. I just wish I had told him to forget it. He has been nicer since I threatened any visitors with "lead poisoning".
