Thanks guys, I sorta though this would B a contraption that i would b steered away from so enny thing inperticular I should look for as far as ware and tear. I know nuttin about'em cept folks make the statement that they want one to keep it clean around their pond. I see them all the time at actions but they look more like scrap than a work'n piece. I spec Fido would need to b kept locked up while it was used less he had good insurance.

I use one on my 9N. It works great and its real smooth - no shaking. Some front end weight would be good. Sometimes if I get into some tough grass, the front skids out.

I understand that this is a late request for info considering the date of your above reply... I also have a Model 14-92 (501) sickle bar and am eager to use it on my 9N. Could you clarify for me how to best hook it up. I think I have it right with the clamps attaching to the lifting arms for stability but the mower shaft will not reach my PTO. Would an over-running clutch or PTO adapter (or both) fix this? Not sure how long those items are. I also agree that some added weight to the front would prove effective. Thanks for the insight.

My 8N came with one, but I passed it up, for which I am kicking myself daily over. It was in good shape, and he wanted $475 for it. $500+ is normal around here, I've discovered.

Hobo one thing you want to check out is the ball and socket joints that connect to the lift arms. These are no longer carried by New Holland... The main reason I got mine for the price I did was due to the wear on the sockets.

Hobo, thats about the price I had seen them for in the local tractor mags and ebay. I got mine for $75 then put on a new pitman and sections. $550 is about normal around this area... I'm just cheap enough to wait out a great deal...

I have a 501 and it actually lists the 9n 2n and 8n on the tag. Being an old pitman arm it does shake ya but mine cuts real nice. If you had a choice between the 501 and the 515 I am told the 515 is the nicer of the two.

Mine works on my 8N. If the hydros were in better shape it would work better. I need front weight to keep the tires on the ground. It's great for making milk shakes, too. It wiggles it's butt pretty good. HTH
