Now that the bad spark problem is corrected I have another one now I'd like to address. Hard steering is now the problem. This is when there are no implements on the lift. If an implement is attached the steering is smooth and easy as can be. Also if I jack up the front end it is really smooth and easy. Take the implement off and it takes two hands to turn, and it seems to be getting worse-or I am getting weaker and weaker. Any ideas-I have checked the following- air pressure fine, steering gear box is full of lube, toe in seems good. Thanks for any help.

Mine was hard to steer left easy to go right. Was the upper steering shaft bearing, just under the steering wheel, just lubed and ready to go.
enjoy

I'll hit the obvious...Your wheels are strait right? Also, have you lubed the steering box?

I had the same problem and could not figure out what it was. I found out by acident that the spindles were corroded inside the housing. A sure way to find out if that is your problem is to jack up the front end, remove the steering arms at the front axle and see how easy the wheels turn by hand. I could barely move mine. Doing it that way removes the mechanical advantage of the steering wheel. If the spindles, bearings, etc are good the wheels will just flop around freely.

I have replaced the bushings there back last winter and have noticed a seemingly slight improvement with greasing the spindles so maybe that will be the area to concentrate on first. Thanks

Lower spindle thrust bearing worn out to the point the spindle izz riding on the axle housing. Implement takes enough weight off the front axle to relieve the friction. Even if it turns out to be a stuck tie rod or steer’in box problem, if the spindle bearings are worn it will never steer E-ZEE. when rite a N izz 'bout the E-zze'izz tractor with ou P/S as you will drive.

I replaced the thrust bearings last winter also when I replaced the spindle bushings. So I really hope they are not bad. The old ones were completely gone. But it will be something to look at and all the other parts in the general area. What you say is the way it seems and the direction I'm heading. I guess I'll take one part at a time. Thanks

If you do not find a tie rod thats hard to move then looks like a steer'in gear issue. Looks like you have the spindle and brg. taken care of. That’s the hard part the rest ain’t that bad
