I took my governor apart because it was doing nothing. The first throttle quadrant was useless, then the engine (Funk 6) would rev to max rpm when moving the throttle into the second quadrant. I opened up the governor, followed the clearance adjustment in FO-4 with a feeler guage, checked the condition of the 4 balls and races. All looked to be in spec and not damaged. Put it back together and still nothing going. I took it apart again, and took all the pieces in a plastic tub to an old timer with over 40 years experience. He runs a shop in Kingman, Kansas. He said that the governor can only be properly adjusted with the Ford jig. He handed my bucket of parts to one of his mechanics who used the jig. He removed 3 shims and used a ball pein hammer to "adjust" one of the shafts. Handed it to me 10 minutes later after we picked up all of the guts from the shop floor (dropped the tub)and said "fixed" I was pretty skeptical until I put it to the test. WOW, it actually works great now. I can provide an address and phone number to Keeling Tractor in Kingman, Kansas if you want to send yours in. They are my hero now. It cost me $12.00 to fix the problem and they gave me a new gasket. They also have a good collection of "real" Ford parts and not imported crap. I am not trying to drum up business for them, just wanted to let you know that there is hope and you don't have to buy a new one. Bob
