Hello all,

Little before new year I posted about wiring problem. Dell, you hit it on the head (as usual).
The ground screw had come loose in the right headlight and shorted the lamp. No fuse, melted wiring. NOW fused, life is good.

Next challenge - Leaking a little hydro oil around the rear axel shaft housing area. It"s coming from the plate, under the housing where the lift arm attaches. ("47 2N)

I removed the lift arm and the nut from the bolt just aft of the lift arm bolt but cannot get the plate off to replace the gasket. Are their nuts holding the lift arm bolt and other bolt from inside the axel shaft housing? I tried to unscrew the lift arm mounting bolt but it just seemed to turn (very tight).

Thanks again for the help!!

Safety & blue skies,

DJ

Jeff..... ..both the 2N and the 8N lower liftarm pin is held inplace by a cotter-keyed castelated nut from INSIDE the diffy housing. You haffta pull yer rearaxle trumpet to access this nut which is torqued to 150ft/lbs (or tighter) tip: swipe yer trumpet gasket with HOT-WATER to relax-itt so it fits over all yer trumpet mounting studs. (torque to 55ft/lbs) The tapered 8N lower lift pin is NOT interchangeable with the straight sided 2N liftpin. p/n: 9N-563.

We generally recommend pulling the left trumpet because you can reach thru the diffy to tighten the right 3-point lift castelated nut. (sortta 2-birds with 1-stone)..... ...Dell

The lift arm bolt is a tappered bolt. You have to open up the rear end to remove it and if it turns that is also probably where your leak is. Those bolts as you call it can and do cause wear on the houseing and cna be a big problem if left loose for and lenght of time and you can end up haveing to replace the houseing if left that way long
