I need a battery for my '49 8N front mount.
I looked it up in the archives and found I need a group 35 battery.
I looked up the size of a group 35 battery and it is about 2 inches taller than the battery I have now. And I'm not sure that would fit
I measured my battery. 9L x 6.625w x 6h +post height.
A group 35 battery is taller than this.

My question is will it fit.

Is it normal for a battery to just die all at once.
Tractor ran fine last time I mowed with it.
Let it sit in the yard for a couple of weeks.
I keep it tarped down and covered good.
Went out to mow and when I pushed the starter button all I got was a click. I tried to put a charger on the battery but it wouldn't take a charge. Disconnected the battery and it still wouldn't take a charge. I'll be taking it in for a free test but I am certain it is bad. Never had one go bad all at once like that. Usually they give me trouble for a while till I get tired of it and replace it. I didn't leave no switches on or nothing. I keep the key in the house and the headlights don't work. So there is nothing to drain the battery when it just sits like that.
It is a 12v negative ground system.
Just curious as to what ya'll got to say about it.

Thanks.

It fits in my NAA, and the CNH hold downs also fit.

Normal to die all at once, maybe not, but stuff happens. If the old battery is 3 years old, it's time to consider replacing it. If the battery charger won't charge it, that's a real good sign it's bad. Put the new battery in and watch for a spark when you hook up the last cable. If there is a spark with everything off, then there is a problem with the tractor draining the battery, maybe a bad alternator. I use Walmart's grp 35 battery, works for me.
