Maybe it would be of benefit to you to JOIN the "Church Crowd". It is possible you might learn something more important than the latest news in the paper. Just a suggestion. DickTN

I guess dick doesn't consider other faiths 'holy' days either. Our fellow poster could have been jewish.. with saturday as his sabbath.. etc. So much for tolerance.. eh..

Yep. I've ran down the street to the cluster mailbox at the entrance to the community I live in to fetch mail. I have also used ove of the tractors to haul cans and trash out to the roadside with a garden trailer. I've enen been known to joyride around my community.. especially after a small repair that needs a 'test drive.. or after a wash and wax. So far, I get just as many waves on my IH cub as my fords, or the JD-B... Heck.. I even get waves on the newer Nh 7610s

Down the road from me is a small convenience store that is operated by some EASTERN INDIANS.

Up till a month ago, I would get a call from one of the 3 brothers that own and operate the store, the same crew that I sell garden grown "HOT PEPPERS". Well this "TOWEL HEAD" rides a bicycle from their apartment within walking distance from my family's LUTHERN CHURCH, that is, where a lot of ancestors are planted. Some of course were of the CATHOLIC FAITH, but I lost track where they are. I think that the GIANT SUPermarket had most of them removed, somehow.

Back to the INDIANS. Well, they refuse my offer to accept one of my portable air bottles, empty freon cans. Well, the TOWEL HEAD's bicycle gets a flat tire, from time to time and he calls me to fetch him on my TRAK-TOR. He likes riding on the DRAWBAR. I say OK. So, I drive the 9N almost to town and pick-him up and bring him to his store before 6AM. He opens the store and starts up the GETTY pumps . At 7:AM the CHURCHMEN and LADIES start gett'n gas, coffee, lunch meats, and an occasional LOCAL SUNDAY PAPER.

Well the local twsp. policeman stopped me on the way in one morning to pick up my business associate. Worse thing that happened was the store had left over NEWSPAPERS. THE INDIAN insisted that I buy the left-over papers.

I put the N away in the shed for LOOOONNNNGGGG DRY STORAGE.

Thanks JohnPa! Now I remember why, after graduation from Univ. MH Baylor (a Baptist University) ...I'm not a Baptist. Tolerance is a good word. And giving (and continuing to give in the face of adversity) is a good thing. And if you think and know anything about it, Jesus was a Liberal. So was Paul. Both of them persecuted by Conservative, Right-wing Religious Fundamentalists. Love your enemy. Remember?

(BTW, did the storekeeper insist you violate the law driving your tractor illegally? Did he call the cops on you? Or, perhaps, ... you should be responsible for your own decisions to break the law?) I drive my un-registered junk ranch truck on the back-country road to get it gassed up at the local general store. If ever a new deputy from the big city that doesn't know me decides to enforce the law,...then I'll have to take the responsibility. (And I'm glad when the newest citizens of our country aren't disappointed when I don't insist that somehow their citizenship is lesser than my own.) My 2 cents.

I'm just amazed at the sudden change of topics. Some folks will take any opportunity to chastise others. NEWSFLASH we go to church and read the sunday paper and drive tractors! Dick mebbe you should take a little bit of church time, and take a ride, you might find out there's more to life than your view. Ron/PA

thanks dickTN, but i already do go to church , the" church crowd" is refrenced here as a reminder not to drive the tractor into town so late in the morning as to impede traffic trying to get to church, thanks ericb

Once I get my 2N done, I intend to drive it from it's little garage to church on at least a few sundays....but it's only 2/3 of a mile and on a backroad so traffic is no biggie. Yes, small towns have their charm!

thats real nice! id drive it any day, if my information in corect these were called the "comfortractor" and had an very high speed road gear in them, something like 35 or 40 mph , and seated at least 2 people, am i close? the idea was the farmer could work the fields all week, and then go to town all in the same vehicle. very nice tractor you have there, eric

I got me one of them yellow labs that runs down to the end of my driveway (150 yards) and gets my paper before I could even climb up on my 9n. Brings it right up to me. I like my tractor, but I love seeing that tail wagging when he brings me that paper.

Tired from a business trip, and looking forward to seeing my family, I pulled into the driveway. I didn't see the faces of my children pressed against the window. Nor did my wife come running in slow motion across the yard. But I didn't despair. I knew I was still a hero, to my dogs. They charged to meet me, turning inside out with delight. Their loved-filled eyes danced with excitement. I drank in the sheer joy of the moment. Gee, it was great to be home!
