Sounds like a crazy question, but here goes.. Just purchased stabelizer brackets for 49 8N.
Not sure which holes to use to mount to tractor frame and which holes go to stabelizer bars???
Hope someone can understand what i'm asking, thanks for the help..

Hi Margaret-
Stev B. is correct. The aftermarket brackets can fit either left or right-as long as they face inwards. They mount under your fenders and you may need to get a little longer fender bolts to bolt them up with. The linch pins MUST face in towards the LIFT pins directly across and in line center to center, follow? As Steve stated, if not, the bars will bind and bend whn you try to lift them. Helpful hint: First, assemble the brackets to fenders but do not fully tighten them down. Next, being certain the pins are in the correct hole to match your tractors' lift pins, attach the bars and secure with lynch pins. Then attach an implement-i.e. mower, back blade, plow, etc. to the tractors' lower lift arms and fit the other end of the brackets onto the lift pins, then secure with lynch pins. Slowly try to lift the setup up and be aware of anything that doesn't l;ook right- bars should not bend or kink rather follow the lift smoothly. Once satisfied that they will work fine, tighten down the fender bolts to secure brackets to axle trumpets. HTH

Tim

The set I saw at TSC.. had two elongated holed on one side for the fender bolts.. and then the other side had 4 holes in an arc for you to choose to attatch the short pin.

As I recall, the brackets are the same for right and left, so one of the holes that the fender bolts go through on one side will be used for the pivot stud on the other side.

The irons will be installed so the flat vertical faces of the angles will be nearer to the center "pumpkin" of the rear axle.

The pins face inward too.

They are not the same for the left and right. There are two different part numbers for these brackets. The bottom angle is shifted towards the back side of the tractor and offset, not in the middle.

Good luck,
Dan

That kinda depends on if they are original cast brackets which are truely right and left items or aftermarket angle iron ones which are not. The most important thing about mounting them is that the pin is in line with the lower link mounting pin so the lift does not bind in operation. There are a couple pics in Parts and pieces on the left
