There is an odd looking (to me) crank handle on the top right side of the 3 point hitch (if you are sitting on the tractor that is) What is this for?

Greg,

It an adjustment that you use primarily for plowing. The first furrow that you make is done with the lift arms adjusted with the crank so that the bottom of the plow is flat relative to the tractor wheels, both of which are on the top of the ground. After the first furrow, the right wheels ride DOWN in the furrow so the tractor is tilted. If you didn't adjust the lift arms, with the crank, then the bottom of the furrows would be slanted. They should be "flat" such that if you could "peal off" and remove all of the turned over sod, what you would see would be essenitally flat or smooth.

The adjustment is also useful when you are using a back blade. You can adjust the blade to create a "crown" or slight slant in a road for drainage.

That help you understand the function of the lift arm crank?

Larry
