I have a replacement proof-meter with light that apparently has no bulb or is shot (no light when attaching a wire from battery), how do I remove the housing to access the bulb?

Thanks in advance.....John A

All you need to do is wiggle the little light socket back and forth and it will come off but before you do that if your tractor is possitve gound you need to run the wire from the negative not the possitve side of the battery to the light. Hope this helps. Dave.

Oh yeah, that brings up another point. If you're just holding your new proofmeter in your hand and touching the wire to the battery, you're not gonna get any light because you do not have it grounded. You've gotta complete the circuit before anything happens. When it's installed the grounding happens by the proofmeter housing contacting the surrounding metal dash.

It's been 2 years since I did that and my memory is dim. I'm sure the light socket came out of the proofmeter from the back....no need to break into the proofmeter housing. However, I seem to remember doing it wrong the first time and having to buy a replacement socket after breaking it. I'll try to look at it again this weekend to see if my memory comes back.
