I thank those of you that responded to my last ?. As i read about hogging i have learned many new things that i want to try to make the job go better. I confused about using chains to pull or mount the hog. I think that i understand that the top link needs to be a chain, but do you use chain anywhere else?

if you need longer lower lift pins, they may be purchased at a farm implement for a company with address www.speede.com. and ask for a catqgory 1 or 2 which ever size and ask for an adjustable 7/8in, lower link pin. you can orer them in the six inch lenght.which will give you extra inches when you use a stabilizer bar along with the adjustable chains , etc. good luck

Unless I'm misunderstanding you ... I would NOT recommend using a chain as a top link .

Whwn I first got my 'hog, I used a chain for my top link temporarily. I was cutting along when the front of the mower hit a small stump. Because the top link was not ridgid, it allowed the mower to somersault up. I stopped the tractor just before it flipped back, went in, changed my pants, and then waited until I got a ridgid top link.

Patrick..... ..height limiting chains form a triangular leg from the 3-point top link down to the lower arm implement links. Chains allow you to raise the implement because the chain collaspses but will stop/support the implement from going any lower. I like 'em because I don't haffta keep watchin over my shoulder, checkin' on height while I keep watchin forward for obsticals to lift the implement over..... ..Dell
